WTF! Happened: DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince

4

From West Philadelphia, born and raised, Will Smith and Jeff Townes made the hip hop duo, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. After bringing beatboxer specialist, Clarence Holmes (Ready Rock C) aboard to the team, they became a celebrity in their home town. In 1990, Ready Rock C left the group not knowing the fame that will soon hit the duo later on. Joining forces with Jive Records resulted in their first debut album Rock the House and toured with RUN DMC and Public Enemy. Following their first album came He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper making them reach platinum success featuring the single, "Parents Just Don't Understand". While their style of hip hop makes a mark in music history, the two disbanded when WIll Smith took acting as a full time job. The two played roles in the sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Through the years, Will Smith released a number of solo albums and played major roles in movies such as Independence Day, The Pursuit of Happyness, and I Am Legend to name a few. Dj Jazzy Jeff still spins here and there and has collaborated with Pittsburg native Mac Miller. The two have had a dope run through the years and earned a height of echelon in the music and acting industry.
