Mohandas Dewese better known as Kool Moe Dee, is a pioneer to the hip hop genre due to his first of many encounters during his career. From his days of youth, he was known to be a quiet individual with a notepad full of rhymes. In 1970 he met hip hop lyricist Special K, DJ Easy Lee and LA Sunshine to form the collective, Treacherous Three. It was Kool Moe Dee who started the art of rap battling when he created a diss rap towards rapper, Busy Bee Starski. From the disbandment of the Treacherous Three in 1985, Kool Moe Dee pursued a solo career up until 1992. His album Back on the Block won him his first Grammy and led him to being one of the first rappers to perform at the Grammy's. In recent years, Dewese pursued other goals such as being a writer and actor. Like all good things, they do come to an end. Although he is no longer fueling the world of hip hop, he will always be a foundation to the hip hop world.
