This week's 'Feature'd Album of the Week' showcases Jay Z and his sixth studio album 'The Blueprint'. Released late 2001 the album contrasted the radio-friendly sound of Jay-Z's previous work, featuring soul-based sampling and production handled primarily by Kanye West and Just Blaze. While recording the album Jay Z was dealing with two criminal trials and a handful of disses from various rappers, which forced him to write his most personal, straightforward album. The Blueprint received universal acclaim, with critics praising Jay-Z's lyricism and the production. The record grew to be considered one of Jay's best albums and has been labeled as one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.
