Midnight Studios

Midnight Studios was established in 2014 by Shane Gonzales at the young age of 19. Gonzales grew up as a skateboarder in a small town in California where he was heavily influenced by punk and DIY aesthetics, specifically the Sex Pistols, Tony Hawk and a variety of other icons in the street culture. The name Midnight Studios comes from Miles Davis’ song “Round About Midnight” and also plays into the idea that his creative process kicks in after sundown.

Midnight Studios style combines punk and youth street styles in an anti-aesthetic manner. Gonzales describes his process as “taking newspaper clippings and random pictures that I find, cutting them out and collaging them.” The brand is recognized by their short slogans such as “Midnight,” “Teenage Prayer” and “Piss Off,” on tie-dye hoodies and a variety of other graphic apparel.

The brand has grown in popularity since its inception and delivers quality designs in the typical popular black and white colorways. Notable collaborations can be seen with Off-White ℅ Virgil Abloh, AWGE and The Rolling Stones.
